How to Request Data Deletion

We respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how to request deletion of your data from briefOS.

Quick Instructions

To request deletion of your data:

  1. Send an email to: info@briefos.ai

  2. Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"

  3. Include: Your account email address

  4. Specify: What you want deleted (see options below)

What Can Be Deleted

Immediate Deletion (Soft Delete)

When you request deletion, we immediately remove from active systems:

  • Your uploaded videos and brand materials

  • Analysis reports and insights

  • Meta Ads data and connections

  • Team collaboration data

  • Account preferences and settings

Permanent Deletion

  • Important: Data is NOT automatically permanently deleted after soft delete

  • Soft-deleted data remains in backup systems until you specifically request permanent deletion

  • To request permanent deletion, explicitly state "permanent deletion" in your email

  • Permanent deletion takes up to 30 days to complete across all backup systems

What We Cannot Delete

For legal and compliance reasons, we must retain:

  • Payment records: 7 years (UK tax law requirement)

  • Legal documentation: Communications related to disputes or violations

  • Anonymized data: Aggregated insights that don't identify you

  • Security logs: Related to potential fraud or abuse

  • Records required by law: Any data we're legally obligated to keep

Types of Deletion Requests

1. Delete My Account

Closes your account and removes all associated data (except legally required records)

2. Delete Specific Content

Remove specific videos or projects while keeping your account active

3. Delete Meta Ads Connection

Disconnect and remove all Meta Ads data while keeping other data

4. Complete Data Erasure

Full GDPR "Right to be Forgotten" request (where legally permissible)

Before You Delete

Export Your Data First

Once deleted, data cannot be recovered. We recommend:

  1. Downloading your reports and insights

  2. Exporting any important analyses

  3. Saving copies of invoices/receipts

Active Subscriptions

  • Cancel any active subscriptions before deletion

  • Deletion doesn't automatically trigger refunds

  • Review our Terms of Service for refund policies

Team Accounts

  • Team owners must remove members before deletion

  • Team members should contact the account owner

  • Deleting owner account affects all team members

Your Rights by Region

EU/UK Residents (GDPR)

  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")

  • Response within 30 days

  • Can appeal if request is denied

  • May file complaint with ICO (UK) or local authority (EU)

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

  • Right to delete personal information

  • Response within 45 days

  • No discrimination for exercising rights

  • Can designate authorized agent

Other Regions

  • We honor deletion requests globally

  • Local laws may provide additional rights

  • Contact us for region-specific information

Request Process

Step 1: Submit Request

Email info@briefos.ai with:

  • Your account email

  • Type of deletion requested

  • Verification information (if requested)

Step 2: Verification

We may ask for verification to prevent unauthorized deletion:

  • Confirm your identity

  • Verify account ownership

  • Authenticate the request

Step 3: Confirmation

You'll receive:

  • Acknowledgment within 5 business days

  • Timeline for completion

  • Any limitations on deletion

Step 4: Completion

  • Soft delete: Immediate

  • Permanent delete: Up to 30 days

  • Email confirmation when complete

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I recover deleted data?

  • Soft-deleted data: May be recoverable within 30 days

  • Permanently deleted data: Cannot be recovered

  • Contact us immediately if deleted by mistake

Will deletion affect my team members?

  • Personal account deletion doesn't affect team data

  • Team owner deletion affects entire team

  • Team members maintain their personal accounts

What about data shared publicly?

  • We delete from our systems

  • Cannot remove from third-party sites

  • Cached versions may persist temporarily

Do you notify third parties?

  • We don't notify Meta or other integrations

  • You should disconnect integrations separately

  • Third parties may retain their own copies

Is deletion free?

  • Yes, data deletion is always free

  • No charge for any deletion request

  • Multiple requests also free

Alternative Options

Instead of Full Deletion

Consider these alternatives:

  • Account Deactivation: Pause account without losing data

  • Data Export: Download your data first

  • Partial Deletion: Remove specific content only

  • Privacy Settings: Adjust sharing preferences
